My love for horses started early in my life as it does with most horse lovers.  I  began riding at the age of five and successfully competed in hunt seat equitation, hunters and jumpers through my early twenties.  My dream of becoming a veterinarian was a combination of my love for animals, especially horses, and my love for science.

I received my B.S. in Biology at Rutgers University where I also became an avid rower.   The training regime for rowing was quite rigorous and this was my first exposure to the benefits of chiropractic and acupuncture therapy.  Both modalities helped heal various injuries and allowed optimal performance while training and competing with the US National Team.   Once rowing came to an end it was time again to focus on my Veterinary career.

I attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine on the beautiful island of St. Kitts and graduated in 2000.  My clinical year of veterinary school was completed at Oklahoma State University.  Following graduation I completed a six month internship in Equine Medicine and Surgery at Oklahoma State University, followed by a year internship in Equine Surgery at Equine Medical Associates in Edmond, OK.   I stayed on board at EMA for another year as an associate.  While in Oklahoma I began my acupuncture training with the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS).  Becoming a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist opened a new world patient care to me.  I already knew acupuncture worked with my first hand experience and was eager to have my patients benefit from the same therapy.

In 2004 I moved back to the east coast to reside in Dutchess County, NY where I worked at Rhinebeck Equine in Rhinebeck, NY, Here I had an opportunity to combine Western Medicine modalities along with Eastern Medicine (acupuncture) modalities.  During my three years at Rhinebeck Equine I completed a Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) Diagnostics and Acupuncture Technique course at the Chi Institute in Reddick, FL.  During this time I also started providing services for dogs, since almost everyone with a horse owns a dog and the owners would continually ask for help with their canine friends.  My most recent educational endeavor was with The Healing Oasis Wellness Center (HOWC) in Wisconsin where I became Certified in Veterinary Spinal Manipulative Therapy (animal chiropractic), which can stand alone but compliments acupuncture quite nicely.

In 2007 my husband, Richard, and I moved to New Hampshire.  The move was inspired by my husband’s career decision.  It was at this time when I started Equine Wellness, PLLC.  This enabled me to focus all my knowledge and training into TCVM and VSMT allowing me to provide the best service possible to my clients within these modalities.

I continue to  provide acupuncture and animal chiropractic services to clients in and surrounding Dutchess County and am pleased to be able to provide services in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
